SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION:
- The Spirit of '87 Scholarship amount is $250.
- Applicants must have a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher and attend Juneau schools for a minimum of 2 years. Years may include graduating year and years do not have to be consecutive.
- Scholarship is for seniors in high school. Students who have already graduated are not eligible.
- The scholarship term is 1 (one) year only.
- Awards will be made regardless of race, religion, or gender.
- Applicant must be interested in furthering their education.
- Recipient must show proof of matriculation at the college, university, technical school, community college or other accredited school of higher learning.
- Scholarships are not redeemable for cash, are non-transferable and can only be applied to tuition, books, or room & board.
- If student drops out of school within 90 days after enrollment, the scholarship must be reimbursed in the form of a cashier’s check.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Please refer to the Scholarship Application for specific instructions. You will need to complete, assemble and clearly label (with your name, address, telephone number and email address) the following:
- Class of 1987 Scholarship Application
- Personal Statement
- 2 letters of reference from someone outside your family, preferable an instructor who is familiar with your character.

A creative essay based on “The Class of 1987 has created this scholarship as a way to give back to their community. How would you give back to your community?” The essay can be in the form of a written paper (not to exceed 1,000 words, 12 font, double spaced), a video, or any other creative way to express yourself.
